As a result, the US government is taking new steps in fighting illicit cannabis use. While cannabis use remains illegal under federal law, the federal government has expanded its efforts with the release of various policy memos and policies aimed at fighting both the illicit use and illicit manufacture of drugs.
The new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules allow the agency to set standards to protect public health, and in turn, limit cannabis use. When THC and CBD are combined, they produce a highly bioavailable compound that is often found in the flowers of cannabis plants. The difference between the two compounds is that THC and CBD possess specific actions, such as a short half-life in the body, while THC has a shorter half-life.
The agency also considers the effect that THC and CBD can have on humans, but finds little evidence to support these claims. So far, there is a strong scientific consensus that the health effects of cannabis use appear to be limited by the amount of cannabinoids the substances contain. They are considered terpenes – compounds that provide some of the medical benefits of cannabis.
